Volleyball: Lee v. South County – October 9, 2012

The Lancers lost at home in straight sets to South County, 13-25, 7-25, 14-25. The Stallions dominated Lee in every aspect of the game – blocking, serving, hitting and digging. But there were a few bright spots for Lee, including the aggressive play of senior outside hitter Yasmin Alexander who led the Lancers with 7 kills. Senior middle hitter Sophia Okorn had 2 kills, 2 aces and 3 digs, while senior setter Fernanda Rojas led the team with 6 assists. Lee will try to bounce back Thursday on the road against West Springfield.

Hometown: Statesville, NC Colleges: UNC-Chapel Hill (BA); Yale Law School (JD) High School Sports: Volleyball, Basketball, Soccer College Sports: Club Soccer Monika graduated from UNC-Chapel Hill with a BA in English and Political Science. Following college, she attended Yale Law School where she received her JD. She currently works as an attorney for the federal government and is also an adjunct professor at George Washington Law School. Monika passionately cheers for the North Carolina Tar Heels and is a fan of the Charlotte Bobcats and the Carolina Panthers. She also has a strong interest in surfing after picking up the sport while living in Hawaii for a couple of years. Monika joined Fairfax Sports Network in 2007 as a sideline reporter. Monika currently a commentator and reporter covering volleyball and track. Depending on the season she also covers Football, Cross Country, Basketball, Track & Field, and Girls Lacrosse.
