February 10th, 2010 - Northern Region Wrestling Re-Scheduled

The Northern Region wrestling championships are tentatively scheduled for February 16 and February 17 at Fairfax High School, if enough officials are available. The format for the event has not been finalized. All four district championships have been snowed out, so there are two choices: 1) All seeded wrestlers will advance to the region tournament. 2) The top four wrestlers in each district will advance. (This is the usual format after district championships are held.)

February 23rd, 2009 - Banner Year for Wrestling at Thomas Jefferson High School

Districts: The TJ wrestling team placed 2nd at the 2009 Liberty District Championships, with eight medalists: The three District champions were Matt Becker (285 lb weight class), Mike Howard (140) and Alex Shmorhun (145). The two District finalists were Joe Latta (215) and Kevin Zigadlo (160). December 8th, 2008 - TJ at NOVA Classic

The TJ Wrestling team competed in the 2-day NOVA Classic held at Fairfax High School on December 5th & 6th. The team had their best performance in over 10 years (perhaps longer!) finishing 8th out of 32 teams from throughout Virginia, and ahead of the five other Liberty District teams present. Though the state tournament has been dominated by other areas of Virginia for the last 20-plus years, Northern Region wrestlers once again made great strides in state competition

On Wednesday, Jan. 23, the Hornets hosted a double dual meet against West Potomac and district rival Robinson. Herndon dropped both matches, losing to West Potomac 21-46, and fourth-ranked Robinson 15-56.

December 23rd, 2007 - Hornet Grapplers Take Home Hardware From Holiday Tournament

The Herndon wrestling team traveled to the Lee-Davis Holiday Classic last weekend at Lee-Davis High School in Mechanicsville, Va. The Hornets placed in seven of the eleven weight classes and the team took seventh out of 16 teams.
