ARLINGTON, Va. – The 2009 BIG EAST women’s lacrosse championship began a weekend of postseason action with a banquet announcing major award winners...
With seven returning seniors the Langley High School Lacrosse team is off to a great start with two big wins in its two pre-season games.
Langley's first victory was a 15 - 9 win against Bishop Sullivan Crusaders in Virginia Beach, an away trip that the team used both as a scrimmage game and a team building adventure.
Last night Langley trounced Westfield High School 26 - 7 at Westfield. Head Coach Richard DeSomma praised the girls for working all winter and for being in great shape. He stated: "My goal for the season is to use the great experience of the seven returning seniors to regain the Liberty District title which the team held in the 2006 and 2007 seasons."
The returning seniors are Maggie Kovacs, Lee Quinby, Jesse Ryan, Sophie Spivack, Annie Swanson, Erin Wiltse and Katie Wingo. Maggie Kovacs will be playing Division I lacrosse at the University of Oregon with athletic and academic scholarships and will study Human Physiology. Sophie Spivack will be playing lacrosse at the Savannah College of Arts and Design with lacrosse, photography portfolio and academic scholarships. Katie Wingo will be playing field hockey for Georgetown University.
